Create Your Own Frosting With Unique Flavors
So you’ve just about mastered how to make frosting. You can make dairy free frosting, vegan frosting, cream cheese frosting and regular old sugar heavy frosting. But now it is time for you to learn how to make frosting of a variety of different flavors.
What I’m going to teach you below are a few tips and tricks that will allow you to flavor your frosting a variety of ways. Knowing how to make frosting is the first step in learning how to flavor your frosting. Basically you’ll only be adding 1 or 2 different ingredients each time you decide to flavor the frosting differently.

If you’re wanting to flavor up some dairy free frosting I’d suggest crumbling up some Oreo’s and mixing them in with your frosting. After you’ve learned how to make frosting from scratch you should try making chocolate frosting. To make chocolate frosting you’re obviously going to swap out the vanilla extract for 1 ingredient… CHOCOLATE!
You can use a variety of different chocolates, from crushing up a Hershey’s bar to using syrup. Make sure you refrigerate any unused frosting, as you don’t want it to go bad! Learning how to make frosting that is rich, creamy and chocolaty will have your guest thanking you!
Aside from those frostings, why not try a lemon frosting? Knowing how to make frosting lemon flavor is quite simple. Add both vanilla extra and lemon juice and flavor your frosting accordingly.
To know how to make frosting lemon lime as well you can squeeze in fresh lime juice on top of both the lemon juice and vanilla extract. You want to ensure you use vanilla extract as well though or you could end up with frosting that is sweet AND bitter from the lemons, you don’t want that!

Beyond just learning how to make frosting you should also try coloring your frosting. Sometimes frostings will come out a color you don’t want, so you can easily use food coloring to alter their color.
One great option is making a large batch of frosting then coloring the frosting different after you separate it in individual bowls. Then with the colored frosting you can decorate cakes for birthdays or special events. Who knew learning how to make frosting could be so much fun!
